Discoverers

The discoverers room can accommodate 9 children aged between 6 weeks and 2 years.

1 adult to 3 children ratio.

This environment is laid out to provide our children with experiences and opportunities to explore and investigate the world around them.

We use a variety of natural sensory materials and real-life resources to encourage curiosity play.

In addition to the main playroom we have a sleep room and sensory area which the children have access to throughout the day.

Our experienced staff are responsive to our children's changeable interests and needs. Providing exciting play activities to allow the young children to enjoy their world. We offer continuous learning and we understand that all children grow and learn at their own pace.

At the end of each term we will send out a copy of each child’s development.

On a daily basis we will keep you up to date on every aspect of your child’s engagement of play and what their day at nursery has entailed.

Explorers & Adventurers

The explorers and adventurers room can accommodate 29 children aged between 2-3 years.

1 adult to 5 children ratio.

This environment is bright, spacious and resourced with natural everyday objects that allow our children to play and learn with a range of possibilities.

The role of the adult in this play environment is to observe and document our children's experiences. Helping to teach problem solving skills and to further develop concentration and curiosity.

We continually develop our 2–3 year play environment to suit each group of children, ensuring positive and engaging learning.

Our experienced staff will plan adult directed play activities supporting our children to promote new ideas, challenge their learning and have fun interacting with others.

At the end of each term we will send out a copy of each child’s Learning Journal that documents their development stages, linked to all areas of the curriculum.

On a daily basis we will keep you up to date on every aspect of your child’s engagement of play and what their day at nursery has entailed.

Inventors

The inventors room can accommodate 34 children aged between 3-5 years. This is between our Conservatory and Gym Hall.

1 adult to 8 children ratio.

The inventors room has two excellent and spacious environments, the conservatory and gym hall, for our children to explore and experiment.

Both areas are interlinked to provide plenty of space for our children to develop their creativity and imagination through a mixture of natural everyday objects and resources that promotes numeracy and literacy through play.

We encourage our children to be successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors by developing skills that will support them in their progression to primary school.

Our experienced staff support our children to take the lead in their own learning through the use of floor books. Our floor books document each child’s voice, choice, their engagement of play, new relationships formed and new learning.

The inventors room has direct access to our outdoor environment and our children have the freedom to move between, with a member of staff always based outdoors there are always various play opportunities available.

At the end of each term we will send out each child’s Learning Journal which is linked to all areas of the Curriculum for Excellence.

On a daily basis we will keep you up to date on every aspect of your child’s engagement of play and what their day at nursery has entailed.

Outdoors

At Grand-Y-Care we offer a balance of outdoor and indoor play viewed as equal space creating multiple and varied learning opportunities, within our front  and side gardens.

Our outdoor environment offers our children many opportunities to explore the natural world, different textured ground, planting and growing, group games and physical play.

We also encourage our children to take indoor learning into the outdoor environment. We offer an extension to their play, with resources such as our mud kitchen, woodwork, painting, outdoor classroom, tree house, tyre swing and fire pit.

In the communal enclosed side garden our children have the opportunity to mix with various age groups. This space provides access to the indoor play areas and children have the freedom to choose indoor or outdoor play.

Within our large extensive outdoor environment our children can explore wildlife, grow our own vegetables in our allotment area, walk around our sensory garden, explore and learn in our loose parts area and climb and hide in our tree house.
